celebrated winemakers, Andy Erickson, crafts the Arietta wines from carefully chosen blocks in the cooler climates of Napa Valley. The Arietta wine portfolio currently consists of four red wines—H
Block Hudson, Variation One, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Quartet—and one white wine, On The White Keys.
Arietta White Wine On the White Keys 2016 500ml $48
The blend of 84% Sauvignon Blanc and 16% Semillon is woven together like fine fabric, the high, floral and tropical tones of the Sauvignon Blanc being held up by the deep, viscous, honeyed character of the Semillon. Whole cluster pressed, the juice was fermented in a combination of Stainless Steel barrels, neutral oak, and new French Oak. Only a small number of barrels were allowed to complete malolactic fermentation, which allows the natural acidity and freshness of the wine to stay in the foreground.
Arietta Red Wine Quartet 2016 $73
Arietta Quartet is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot from carefully chosen vineyard blocks in the Napa Valley. Aged for 20 months in French oak barrels (61% new), Arietta Quartet is approachable upon release, but rich enough to age well for ten years or more. The label features a drawing of the instruments of the string quartet by eight year old Libby Hatton, a future proprietor of Arietta, over a manuscript fragment of the famous Cavatina movement from Beethoven’s String Quartet Opus 130.
Arietta Hudson Vineyards Merlot 2015 $79.99
Wilfred Wong of Wine.com
92 With the pedigree of the Hudson Vineyards, the 2015 Arietta Merlot was already a banker. All I needed to do was to taste the wine and confirm the facts. TASTING NOTES: This wine is bright and elegant. Its aromas and flavors of pure red fruit and lively minerality make it a nice choice with a piquant roast duck
Arietta H Block Hudson Vineyard Red 2015 $163.99
95 James Suckling
The nose here shows lavender, dragon fruit, peppermint, milk chocolate, thyme and ivy. A linear, impeccably polished palate with lots of crunchy blue fruit, grainy tannins, fresh acidity and a mineral-driven finish. So refined. A blend of 68% cabernet franc, 32% merlot.
Arietta Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 $159
Cabernet Sauvignon from Coombsville, Napa Valley, California
94 Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is a deep garnet-purple color with a nose of cassis and black cherries plus hints of dusty soil, sautéed herbs and chargrill. Medium to full-bodied and soft, velvety and approachable in the mouth, it has plenty of generous fruit and great length.
